I once completed the Great North Run...colleagues and friends couldn't quite believe a bloke like me had managed to do it! So, I thought, what better way to raise funds than to set myself a challenge of epic proportions. 

I have decided to climb Scotland's highest peak: Ben Nevis. But not only that, I am then going to cycle the 260 miles to England's highest peak: Scafell Pike - and climb that too! People may think I'm mad but I need to live up to my name, 'Uncle Crazy'!

My aim is to complete the challenge in 5 days or less!

I want to do all that I can to raise money to help fund the research into Children's Brain Tumours. The Children's Brain Tumour Research Centre, based at the University of Nottingham, are conducting critical research into the causes, treatment and ultimately a cure of childhood brain tumours. They bring together a multi-disciplinary team of leading healthcare professionals and researchers - all experts in their fields and all committed to improving the understanding of childhood brain tumours. Their findings currently guide both national and international developments in brain tumour research and clinical practice, leading to new methods of research to find a cure, whilst minimising the risk of disability. 

For those of you who know me or know of me you know that I have a beautiful niece, amongst my many wonderful nieces and nephews, that battled with brain tumours from just 18 months old. Sadly, at the age of 5 Pippa lost her battle and as a family we were completely devastated and heartbroken. Pips is an inspiration to our whole family. She amazed us with her bravery and strength, she always had a smile on her face and tried to enjoy her life as much as she was able to. She was an inspiration to anyone that met her. Pippa was my inspiration to set and take on this challenge in order to raise funds and awareness for cbtrc, so that hopefully, in the future, other children and families will not have to suffer the heartbreak we have. This challenge is in memory of Pippa.
