Story

In October of this year, the two of us will be taking part in the MND International Challenge to Trek up Mount Kilimanjaro in memory of Pete's Dad, Steve.

Steve was diagnosed with MND in February 2007 and unfortunately lost his battle with the illness in November 2008. The illness is fatal with no known cure. It affects the nerve cells which send messages from the brain to the muscles. Consequently, as the nerve cells deteriorate, the muscles will stop working and eventually waste away. The brain however is unaffected as so he was fully aware of what was happening to his body.

The illness left Steve unable to speak, walk, eat or drink, he became totally dependent on his family. The illness took away everything which he enjoyed in life, the ability to talk to others, enjoy a drink or a meal or get out and about and be active.

Please help us by donating generously to this worthy cause in the hope that one day the world will be free of MND.
