Story

Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

On August 4th I am taking on the challenge of Ride London – a 100 mile cycle starting in the Olympic park, heading out to the Surrey Hills before returning into London to finish on The Mall.

Not only is it 100 miles, it also takes in some (feels like all) of the most challenging hills in Surrey. I’m hoping to exchange my pain for some £££s and raise money for a good cause that is close to my heart.

Stackpole Garden is a project run by Pembrokeshire Mencap to help adults with learning disabilities.

Stackpole Garden is a historic 6 acre walled garden set in the beautiful peaceful environment of the National Trust Estate at Stackpole in Pembrokeshire. Since 1983 Pembrokeshire Mencap has leased the garden to provide work experience and horticultural training to local adults with learning disabilities.

During that time, this once derelict site has been developed to provide a unique training centre which is open to the public daily thus promoting social inclusion and giving participants a sense of pride and achievement.

Pembrokeshire Mencap is fundraising for their ‘Green Fingers’ project throughout 2019. Participants each have a micro allotment where they
choose what they grow and take the produce home. The plan is to develop this area to include a pond, willow shelters, seating, accessible footpaths and wheelchair friendly raised beds. The paths will draw visitors into the area where they will be encouraged to interact with the participants and help improve their wellbeing.

The total development costs are in the region of £40,000 and a proportion has already been raised through donations and grant funding but there is still a way to go and your generosity will help us achieve the goal. Even the smallest donation is greatly appreciated and will help the cause!

Thank you!

P.S. You can follow my training and find out how I do on the
day via Strava here!
