This year, I am one of 10 contestants who will try to make an audience of more than 400 people at Sheffield City Hall laugh out loud for charity on Thursday 20 October by performing a comedy stand-up routine. Yes, I can hear you laughing now…in disbelief.

‘Funny Business’, now into its fifth year, is an event organised by Weston Park Cancer Charity and aims to raise much-needed funds for the hospital and the work it does.

By day I am the Managing Director of Bolsterstone, a property development company. Laughs are rare in this world (thanks to Brexit), but I am happy to take a step out of my comfort zone for this wonderful charity and in memory of my mother and sister who, along with a number of close friends young and old, have succumbed to
cancer. Being personally affected by cancer encourages me to do more to help charities like this, so I’m thrilled that I can help Weston Park Hospital with this event.

Thanks to the generosity of so many people I have already surpassed my original target, so I have upped the pressure on myself to raise a massive £6,000 for Weston Park Cancer Charity.

The money raised by myself and other wannabe stand ups will fund the expansion of research studies, improving the way cancer treatments are delivered and supporting the ongoing care provision of patients and their families affected by cancer.

For another £20 you can even come along and witness my foray into the world of comedy for one night only. This price includes the show, a raffle ticket and entrance to the After Show Party.
