Story

Well as the picture shows I completed the London Marathon.  Many thanks for all those who sponsored me, and I am delighted that we have raised so much money for Mencap.

For those who have not been badgered into sponsoring do think about donating as all money now goes to my local branch of Mencap here in Merton. This website stays open for a few days.

For the statistically minded I came number 22,074 out of 34,480 but a better sounding 231 for my age group!  My time was slower than I hoped at 6 hours and 27 minutes but my main aim was to finish and I am happy that I achieved that.

I'm running the London marathon tomorrow, in my Palace shirt for Mencap; the charity that works for those with learning disabilities.  The first £1,750 goes to the national Mencap but all the money raised after that goes to Merton Mencap.

Merton Mencap is an independent, local charity supporting people with a learning disability and their families living in the London Borough of Merton.  Merton Mencap runs a vast range of projects and activities which help people with a learning disability to develop their skills, participate in their communities and enjoy life.

Here in the borough of Merton there are around 4,500 people with learning disabilities, and if Department of Health figures are correct, only just under 1,000 are known to local services for the disabled.
