Phil's 24 Hour 5-a-side Football

24 Hour 5-a-side Football · 30 June 2017
Thank you for taking the time to visit my justgiving page. On Friday June 30th I will be playing 24 hours of continuous 5-a-side football at Haydon Bridge Football Club to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
In October 2014, Helen Easby, the mother of a lifelong friend of mine was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) aged just 49. MND is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. There is currently no cure for the disease.
Throughout my life I have been fortunate enough to get to know Helen very well and it is impossible not to grow an immediate affection towards her. To see not just the heartbreaking deterioration of such a kind, friendly and all round good person but also the resilience she has shown in the face of adversity has inspired me to take action to help put a stop to this horrible disease.
By sponsoring me your money will directly help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. The MND Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland dedicated to improve care and support for people affected by MND and they continue to fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments, bringing closer a cure for MND.
I know Helen and her family speak very highly of the association and were delighted when I informed them of my intentions to raise money for their benefit.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. With JustGiving your details are safe - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the MND Association.
Thank you again, any support you can give will go a long way towards raising a substantial amount of money for this brilliant charity.
