JDRF’s vision is a world without type 1 diabetes

To achieve our mission of eradicating type 1 diabetes and its effects for people in the UK we:

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on 30th August 2007 at the age of 12. With no family history of diabetes, it was a huge shock. I didn't get it from eating too much sugar. There's nothing I can't eat or drink. There's nothing I did to get it, there's nothing I could have done to prevent it, and it's not contagious.

For the last 13 years I have been using an insulin pump to medicate myself, which has offered more freedom and flexibility in terms of what I can eat and when. Although it’s been the best decision for me regarding treatment, it’s not normal to any person without diabetes leading to major self confidence issues when having to tell people all about it. ⁣

I now wear a continuous glucose monitoring system too, which is another piece of equipment you’d not expect to see attached to someone. Yes it might not be the most attractive thing in the world, but it allows me to track my blood sugars 24/7 and optimise my treatment in order to live the most ‘normal’ life possible. ⁣

I would really appreciate any donation big or small for this amazing charity, and also to spur me on to complete this very long, scary journey I’m embarking on 🥹
