"I'm not a long distance runner" - it's the line I've always told myself and others...."my 29 inch legs were built for short journeys, mainly to the pub and back!  But since my sister completed the marathon a few years ago I've had the desire to complete it myself.  My ballot place didn't come through so I gave up on the idea until I started training alongside a friend who is running for another charity.  It got me thinking how much I wanted to do it and how much of a difference the money I could raise would make.

My dad had kidney failure when he was in his late 20's (the same age as I am now!) and had to undergo daily dialysis and eventually received a transplant kidney from my granddad.  Although this transplant was successful, his immune system was so low that he contracted cancer and his body was not strong enough to fight it.  Unfortunately when I was just 6 months old my father passed away.

I am running in his memory and for all those who have been, and are going through the same thing.  I'm raising money so research can continue and improve.

This will be the first time in about 12 years I'll be making a conscious effort to stay sober on a night out....if that's not worth a few quid then I don't know what is!!

Please give whatever you can to a fantastic cause!
