Story
Neuroendocrinal cancer is a rare illness that is hard to recognise, with the result that it is often misdiagnosed.
Neuroendocrinal tumours (or NETs) develop from cells of the neuroendocrine system, found in organs including the stomach, bowel and lungs. Because they're hard to spot, they're often difficult to diagnose until they've spread and are therefore harder to treat.
Through my first half marathon I want to support the NET patient foundation, which has provided helpline advice to 10,000 patients in the last ten years and funded vital research into this hugely under-reported illness. It's the only charity in the UK that concentrates solely on this cancer and it's really crucial that we support their work.
Please give anything you can for a brilliant cause. I aim to be running as a zebra, the mascot of this illness - just because you hear hoof beats, doesn't mean it's a horse!
Thanks,
Phoebes xx
