My name is Phoebe and this year I am running my first ever Marathon in Edinburgh with Save the Children UK.

I lead an all-female run group in Nottingham, and have been working closely with the Notts Police on campaigns re safety of women and girls, especially as runners. This year I really want to encourage the running community here, and I have made strong connections with local companies/ businesses to set up fun and free events to create an excitement around fitness and exercise. At the start of 2023, I could not run for 30 seconds, and to be running my first Marathon in 2025, and to have moved cities to be closer to those who helped me on my own journey, is amazing! 2025 is going to be mega, and I am excited to share this with you all.

This will be my second time fundraising for Save the Children, and I have had so much support from their team. Every donation is life-changing for a child as these children do not have any way of helping themselves- so it is so important help where we can. STC work in the UK and internationally, and what set them apart for me is that they work on long term solutions for children in their communities, trying to minimise the damage whether that is physically or mentally from war, living in poverty, illnesses etc, rather than just visiting once and never going back. I hope to volunteer with kids in 2026 too as it is beyond rewarding to know that they have a chance for a better future.

I will be hosting fundraisers over the next couple months up until the Marathon in May, and will be keeping you all updated on how my training is going (you can laugh if I cry during a run.)
