Clipper 2023-24 Race
Campaign by UNICEF UK (RCN 1072612 (England & Wales) and SC043677 (Scotland))
UNICEF is the chosen Charity Partner for The Clipper 2023-24 Round the World Yacht Race. This epic challenge sees people from all walks of life & around the world come together to work as a team, in a true test of their ability, bravery & courage.

Story

I decided in May, fairly impulsively, to sail across a couple of seas and an ocean with Clipper. It is not completely out of left field - I did sail a fair bit as a child, and I still get a stupid grin on my face when I'm on the water. I recommend watching this video if you want to know a bit more about what it will be like... it prompts different reactions; some look horrified, others excited, most people a bit bewildered about why I would want to spend around 4 and a half months at sea in conditions like this...

The first time I watched this clip i cried (that's the power of a good soundtrack right there) and I knew it was something I absolutely had to do. I think it is quite rare that life puts something so firmly in your path that there is no room for doubt.

I would love it if you would share a bit of that journey with me (when it starts) on the race viewer here Clipper 2023-24 Race Viewer (clipperroundtheworld.com), and there is a video tour of a Clipper 70, the boat that will become my home and transport for the best part of 4 months here: Clipper 70 | 70ft Ocean Racing Yacht Tour | The Clipper Race - YouTube

Our partner charity this year is UNICEF, who rely entirely on voluntary contributions and donations. Its life-saving work is only possible through the generosity of its fundraisers. With help from the Clipper Race, UNICEF can make sure more children get the support they need to grow up happy, healthy, and safe.

I welcome all of my supporters, family, friends, or curious strangers to follow the highs and lows of the next year - I will be writing a blog to keep you up to date with all the preparatory and onboard antics which can be found here: Pipontheocean – I signed up to sail across an ocean and now I have to do it. (And I can't wait!) (wordpress.com)

if you are able to spare even a couple of quid to support UNICEF and the brilliant work they do, please do.
