Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page

As part of our Centenary celebrations here at Pland Stainless, our staff are taking part in a special bike ride to raise funds for MND, where they intend to cycle over 100 miles in the day.

This year the UCI Road WorldChampionship Cycle Race, is to be held in Yorkshire from the 22-29thSeptember. So on Tuesday 24th September a team from Pland is to cycle the same final Harrogate Circuit Portion of the Yorkshire course via a Zwift virtual track all set up in the Pland Leeds office.  The circuit is 8.7miles in length with a 741 ft elevation gain and it needs to be cycled 12 times during the day to hit their target of 100 miles in celebration of their 100 years in business on the Leeds site. A team of 30 will be taking part from all areas of the business.

As a Yorkshire manufacturer of Stainless Steel products, let’s see if we have the grit to make it happen for this worthy cause.  Please encourage us along with a healthy donation to the MND Association.

MND affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time. As this is not a common disease, general health and social care professionals may not see many cases of MND. This means it is important to seek out specialists who have appropriate experience in its treatment and care – usually with referral to neurological services. With MND, messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles. This leads the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Some people also experience changes to their thinking and behaviour. However, MND affects everyone differently. Not all symptoms will affect everyone, or in the same order. Symptoms also progress at varying speeds, which makes the course of the disease difficult to predict.
