Kilimanjaro for Meningitis Research Foundation · 4 September 2015 to 20 September 2015 ·

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.

Story

I have set myself the ultimate challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in September to raise money for Meningitis Research Foundation. My target is to raise £3,000 for MRF by completing the six-day trek.

"Millions of people have already been affected by meningitis and septicaemia in the UK, Ireland and around the world. They are devastating diseases which can kill and seriously disable in hours.  But the sad fact is meningitis and septicaemia kill around 1,000 people around the world every day. Every single day one person dies in the UK and Ireland alone. Babies and children under five and young people are especially vulnerable but anyone of any age can be affected." (Meningitis Research Foundation)

" I want to help raise awareness. Being part of this challenge is not just giving me a once in a lifetime experience, but I can also help towards saving the lives of millions of people" (Ploy, 2015)
