Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Most of you will already know, that our lifelong friend, our brother, the one and only Wayne 'House' McNamara sadly passed away last year after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Wayne was only 40 years old.
As the Leeds Marathon this year (14th May) is entitled 'Run for Rob' - inspired by the legendary Rob Burrow's fight against MND....I thought I would give it a go too....a mere 13 years after my 1st (and only) attempt at a HALF marathon - and that nearly killed me.....wish me luck.....
It's going to be extremely tough - but it will be nothing compared to the battle Wayne had to face - he never gave up - and neither will I - I don't care if it takes me 2 hours (unlikely haha) - 5 hours (still unlikely) - 10 hours (probably still pushing it haha) or even longer - whenever I feel like I can't go anymore - I will look down at my #DOITFORWAYNE tattoo on my wrist - and i'm sure the big man will inspire me to keep going.....
The MNDA are continuously working towards trying to find a cure for this horrific disease - which currently has no cure. Together, hopefully, one day, they will find one....all money raised from this JustGiving Page will be donated to the MNDA.....so please, please, give whatever you can, really appreciate times are hard at the moment, so every single £1 will be greatly appreciated and will motivate me to keep running on the 14th May in memory of Wayne. Don't do it for me.....Do it for Wayne.....
I grew up with Wayne, we won Cricket competitions together, endless football trophies, several golf tournaments - and shared endless days out together whilst sharing a beer or 10....he was loved by everyone, he went to all the England matches, every gig every concert, and was a true family man...EVERYONE loved him..including me.......the world simply won't be the same without him, but with the help and love of all his friends and family, his memory will love on forever .....
Thank you for taking the time to look at this page, and for reading the background behind it....thank you in advance for any donation you will be able to give....
Love you all
