Shine London in the fight against prostate cancer · 29 September 2012 ·
The justgiving page prompts me to tell my story. I really do not have one, but here is one that I think is worth sharing.
My dad saw this page the other day, realised I was motivated to do this walk to show my support to his fight in some way, and hopefully benefit Cancer Research along the way. So, he wrote to me, saying he was very touched by my gesture but disagrees that he is brave. Told me how he was in shock when he was first diagnosed, but after two years, believes its like having a migraine or an upset tum - something that gets in the way of normal life, needs to be managed but is really not a big deal. And how on the brighter side, he has made a conscious decision to live it up the best he can. So, nothing that should weigh on my mind, he says. :)
Sweet old man - doesnt realise this is the show of bravery I want to share in - the ability to accept one's life for what it brings, do what needs to be done and move on, never losing sight of the brighter side, giving life a full 100%!!
This is me doing what I can. This walk is for Dad and all others who have dealt with Cancer with a positive, fighting spirit - I am humbled and inspired, and I wish it was less challenging for you all. Raising funds for Cancer Research UK is the only way I know how to contribute towards making it easier for these brave souls right now, so please donate generously towards this cause.
Much gratitude,
Pooja

Help to beat prostate cancer.
Thank you for visiting my Shine fundraising page in support of prostate cancer research. Please dig deep and sponsor me – it’s quick, easy and totally secure.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with over 36,000 cases diagnosed every year. In the 1970s less than a third of men survived for five years or more. Now three-quarters do – that’s amazing progress. But prostate cancer still claims over 10,000 lives a year. So it’s crucial that Cancer Research UK continue their work and find new ways to tackle the disease.
Cancer Research UK is funded entirely by amazing supporters like you. By sponsoring me you can help more people survive prostate cancer.
Every pound you donate really does make a difference to Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating prostate cancer – so please sponsor me now!
Gift Aid it!
If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box when donating as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
