Nailsea Rotary Walk · 11 October 2020
Your local RNLI lifeboat station needs your help!
On 11th October 2020, a determined team of 14 volunteers (aged 5yrs to 80 yrs!) from RNLI Portishead are on a mission to raise much needed funds so that they can keep #SavingLivesAtSea.
Since the beginning of lockdown, the RNLI volunteers at Portishead have responded to 23 calls for help and continue to support the local community, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Their pager can go at any time day or night, during a meal, putting their children to bed, or out for a family day. Will you show your support to them?
With the current epidemic all fundraising events have been curtailed but we still need to raise money any way we can to keep this vital service going.
If you can spare a small donation to keep them afloat we would be most grateful! You can donate here on this page.
The brave, selfless and committed RNLI crew are always there when they are needed, supporting this event is your way of being there for them.
THANK YOU for your donation YOU are now helping to Save Lives at Sea
NEWS! Covid has intervened and the walk is now a 'virtual' event. This means that instead of 300 plus walkers together at the one venue each of our team will walk their mileage alone or in small family groups.
As the RNLI we are fully aware of safety rules and we will ensure that none of our team or any other person is at any risk.
Sunday 11th October Great news all 14 members of the team completed the walk in a variety of venues, including multiple laps of Portishead Marina, a circuit of Nailsea and along the beach at Sand Bay. Special congratulation to Riley Dyke aged 4 and a half whose little legs took him a terrific 5K ! Not his last fundraising venture for the RNLI I am sure
WE HAVE REACHED OUR TARGET!! Thank you all so much for your efforts and donations. Like lots of things this year its been a long haul but like the other stuff we are dealing with we have to stick with it and persevere. As the founder of the RNLI said , 'With courage nothing is impossible'.
If you need reminding of the power of your donations our Lifeboat and her volunteer crews have launched 32 times since lockdown in March!! Thats SELFLESS, DEPENDABLE, TRUSTWORTHY and COURAGEOUS and they are ready now to launch again..........
