Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are challenging
ourselves to walk 123 miles of the Palladian Way, over 8 days in March 2019. We
will start at Stowe Landscape Gardens in Buckinghamshire, and walk back to
Prior Park Landscape Garden in Bath - from Palladian Bridge to Palladian
Bridge.

Who is walking

Tom Boden - Tom is the general manager for Prior Park, the Bath Skyline and Dyrham Park. He loves maps, and has been carefully planning the walking route to take in lots of interesting sights, and a few National Trust places along the way.

Alice Norland - Alice is the head gardener at Prior Park, in fact she
is currently the youngest head gardener in the National Trust. Alice is
passionate about the garden and the 18th-century landscape style, so will be
keen to stop by at some Capability Brown-inspired landscapes en-route.

Why are we walking?

We have set ourselves this challenge to support fundraising for the Prior Park dams project.

Since the National Trust started caring for Prior Park back in 1993, the aim has been to restore the garden to its 1764 splendour, and the time of creator Ralph Allen’s death. The next project in the continuing restoration of the garden will be around the historic dams at the lower end of the garden. Time has taken its toll since these Georgian structures were built in the mid 1700s, and the dams now need major and expert attention.
