At Aston, we continually break new ground and transform lives. We are addressing our Birmingham city centre campus, students’ experience, and impact on society through our work as pioneers for business, health, research, and our students. We need to ensure that Aston’s work remains life-changing.

Story

Professor Jill Poole tragically passed away on 31st May 2016 following a complication with an operation procedure. Jill was a loving mother to two, Becky and Alex, devoted daughter to Margaret and late Dewi Evans and beloved sister to Peter Evans. She was Deputy Dean and Head of Law at Aston Business School and has been described by many as an inspiring teacher, mentor, champion and friend to many throughout Aston University.

She was absolutely dedicated to helping people learn by sharing her knowledge and love of the law. In her special memory, we have set up this charitable educational fund. This fund will be used to support undergraduate students obtain 'excellence scholarships' at Aston Law School and to reward 'excellence' at the annual law graduation ceremony.

Following from the first fundraising event that her daughter Becky, Becky's fiance Paul and her best friend Fiona carried out through running the Bristol Half Marathon, Paul will be cycling approximately 228 miles in three events on the 14th, 23rd (Velo south ) and the 28th (Rbike Ride) September 2018.

In his own words 'I am no super athlete... and so the rides of 78 miles, 100 miles and 50 miles represent a real personal challenge for me and a number of my friends and colleagues who will be taking part with me'.

Please note due to the high winds the 23rd (velo south) was cancelled and will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

Please support Paul, by making a donation you will be making every pedal stroke worthwhile!

Jill will be sorely missed by all, but will always be in our hearts and minds.
