September 3rd & 4th 2022 - Push for Prems at home

Each year, we walk for the Early Birth Association (a registered charity that supports the Trevor Mann Baby Unit, RSCH, Brighton and PRH Special Care Baby Unit, Haywards Heath, www.earlybirth.co.uk).

Unfortunately, due to the continued impact the pandemic is having both locally and nationally, we have once again had to make the hard decision to keep the challenge virtual. It is vital that we put the safety of our supporters, especially those most vulnerable, first. Therefore, we are asking you to join us virtually for Push for Prems at Home.

For those who have never joined us for Push for Prems, prior to 2019  our sponsored walk would lead us from the Royal Sussex County Hospital to the Hove Lagoon. Here we would have a picnic and launch bubbles across the lagoon in memory of those little ones who didn't make it home.

We are asking all of our families and those that want to support the Trevor Mann Baby Unit and Special Care Unit to get creative and hold your own sponsored walk. We want you to get creative. You could walk, run, skip, cycle or dance. Complete your challenge over one day or split it over the weekend, this may work better for our littlest supporters.

Some ideas to help get you thinking include; Completing the usual routes distance (2.3 miles), set a target step count for example 5,000 or 10,000 steps, for those who like a challenge - walk the distance between the two units (11.9 miles as the crow flies), fancy dress or themed walk - get that tutu out the back of the cupboard, dust of those scrubs, sharpen those dinosaur claws.

Although we won't be back together in Brighton we still want this year to be memorable! So PLEASE share your stories and take lots of photos. We love seeing what you all get up to. All we ask is that you stay safe and have fun while raising vital funds for the units.

Our 13th Push for Prems will take place on the weekend of 3rd and 4th of SEPTEMBER. If you find you can't make this weekend then please don't be put off. Chose another date before then and make it count.

We are raising funds for vital equipment for the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and the Special Care Baby Unit ate PRH. The unit can give little ones, born as early as 23 weeks (17 weeks early) the best chance of survival. There are only a few hospitals in the country that have the facilities to do this. It comes at a time when the NHS has been stretched to the limit and charitable support is more vital than ever.

Every year around 200-250 people take part in Push for Prems. We always meet so many AMAZING NICU graduates – let’s see if we can do the same again this year and not let this pandemic hamper our fundraising efforts. Together we can achieve great things! To keep things simple, we ask that all donations come via this JUST GIVING page. Please dig deep as every penny counts and will help to provide much needed equipment and supplies.

Thank you for all your ongoing support over the years. Together, we have raised nearly £100,000 for the Early Birth Association, Ronald McDonald House, and SERV Sussex and the Neonatal Ambulance Service. The Push for Prems Team was set up and run by a tiny group of parents that spent months in the TMBU with their sick and premature babies, some as tiny as just one pound. This year it has been handed over the the EBA's safe hands to continue the fundraising efforts.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support

Love the Push for Prems team xxx
