Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
You should all know the story by now...my mum contracting Uterine Cancer in 2009 aged 69. Having a hysterectomy to stop the spread, going through the horrid chemotherapy sessions.
Two days after completing the final course of treatment, we received the dreadful news of my brother aged just 49 - and one month short of his 50th birthday - dying of Pneumonia. He was my only brother.
To lose a child is bad enough; to be at the age of 68, undergo a major operation and then crippling bouts of chemotherapy, to lose your eldest child, to go through the funeral, to help console the rest of our family when it is you who is suffering the most..imagine that.
Even after the funeral, mum faced 25 bouts of radiotherapy sessions over a 5 week period. She didn't want to carry on with this but we, as a family, encouraged her to complete it as we needed her back to health to help US through the death of my brother.
After this next round of treatment, further tests and visits to the hospitals resulted in some good news - that the cancer was dealt with.
We as a family had some good days together after what we'd been through, however 4 months to the day my brother died, my mum never woke up.....ultimately she may have physically recovered from the cancer but mentally she had not and would never recover from losing her son.
Times are hard, but we all have a story like this which we can relate to.
Please leave that chocolate bar or pint of beer today and if you can, only donate a few quid- PLEASE DO IT!
Thanks,
Raj
