Thanks for taking the time to visit Edinburgh Tabernacle JustGiving page.
Who we are:
Edinburgh Tabernacle is Christian community commissioned about four years ago to bring Gods message of deliverance, salvation and restoration to the people of Edinburgh - a replication of the winning strategy adopted by our mother parish – City of God, Aberdeen. So far this is exactly what we have set out to achieve but we now perceive the need for a more practical, urgent and relational approach. Following the highly successful exemplary life of Mary Slessor – a renowned Scottish missionary to Africa – as a Church we too intend to live amongst the people of Edinburgh in the full sense of it. Our utmost desire is to go beyond the delivery of the message of life, transcending into the fulfilment of the message.
Helping us help others:
Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland but recent reports from the Scottish Government and charities indicate that it is also the “rough-sleeping capital” of Scotland, with 363 rough sleepers per night. Given the current economic climate five times more scots are turning to food banks to feed their families than 12 months ago. These are some of the real life challenges obtainable in Edinburgh and its environs. In recognising who we are in Christ and what we represent in Edinburgh we now embrace more practical ways of delivering Gods message of love and hope, such that are relevant to all recipients and offer life changing opportunities to all. Therefore we partner with other local organisations with similar passion for the restoration of lives, such as Bethany Trust. These partnerships provide a pragmatic solution to these issues by tapping into the wealth of experience such organisations have in dealing with these issues. But we also recognise that these challenges are not without a spiritual undertone. Therefore we imbibe yet again Gods word in our strategy, which calls us to ‘Share your food with the hungry… Spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry’ Isaiah 58:7 & 10.
A quick glance at the Bible and the situational reports provided by the Government and charities clearly suggest that the work at hand requires haste. We are now working towards the procurement of a Church building in Edinburgh which will serve as a “house of refuge” for all in need of solace. So we are calling out to you in love to support us with your prayers and your substance. We are confident that your financial support will help us successfully secure this building which in turn helps us deliver Gods promises of restoration to the people of Edinburgh and beyond.
