We improve people's access to clean energy to transform lives & tackle climate change

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Earth Wind & Tyre is a 200-mile wind-themed cycle challenge from Durham to Edinburgh. In celebration of clean energy, the route passes by 10 iconic wind farms as it winds its way up from Durham to Edinburgh. With leg-testing climbs and euphoric views, it’s a truly spectacular event for all involved.

The RES Old Lags Team - Mike Anderson, Stephen Balint, Jerry Bass and Chris Morgan - has had a combined career of over 100 years in the renewable energy industry. With the exception of Jerry, we have now ceased full time paid employment. We are all keen on the great outdoors and we are setting out on this challenge both to raise money for a good cause and to prove that we are not ready for the care homes yet.

Renewable World is a charity which tackles poverty using renewable energy. They support the provision of affordable renewable energy services to improve incomes, health and education in the developing world. This is an immense challenge, as it is estimated that about 1.3 billion people still do not have access to electricity and the benefits it can bring. You can find out a lot more about the work Renewable World carries out at: http://renewable-world.org/.

We are all passionate about this cause and ask you to dig deep and make a generous donation. It can really make a difference.

Thank you,

Mike, Stephen, Jerry and Chris
