I am running for my mum Helen, your bravey is an inspiration to all of us.
I remember spending Christmas Eve 2009 reassuring my terrified mum, that a lump she had found was probably harmless.
As it turns out it was nothing, but the mammogram which confirmed this also found a suspicious mass, and an ultrasound found this to be a 1.5cm tumor.
The tumor turned out to be stage 3, and we were all relieved when an operation to remove it was carried out a week later on January 13th.
But our relief was short lived, when the news came that it had spread further than they thought and the surgeon realised that not all the cancer had been removed.Everyone had to endure another wait, until the following week when they carried out a radical masectomy.
Months of gruelling chemotherapy and radiotherapy followed, with Mum battling through and continuing to run her business with only a few days off after each chemo session.
Mum completely changed her lifestyle with a new diet free of dairy, red meat and processed food, joining a gym, and a new outlook on life which led to lots of 'firsts' including a fairground ride, a helicopter flight and clubbing to name a few!
She got the all clear on 10th January, 2011.
Many thanks to everyone at the Spire Gatwick Park hospital, the St. Lukes Cancer centre, and everyone else who helped along the way.
I would be so grateful if you could sponsor me so that more people who get cancer can also get that 'all clear' result.
Many thanks for your support. Together we will beat cancer.
FIMIDIAN - remembering Fiona, Mitch, Diane and Andy, who sadly lost their battles.
