Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year the RNLI's annual fundraising MayDay focus is on raising money for crew kit. It costs £1,593 to kit out just one crew member. See photo below. In 2016 the RNLI rescued 23 people every day! 431 lives were saved and 8,643 people rescued. To do this the RNLI launched 8,851 times and the crew need to be fully kitted out each time. Nationally the RNLI hope to raise £750,000 during May with events happening all over the country. We in Largs hope we can contribute £1,000 from our sponsored walk and fun day at the Boathouse.
I am acting Chairperson and Secretary of the Largs Fundraising Branch and know how vital it is for us to raise funds at every opportunity. The RNLI receive no funding from the Government and rely solely on public donations. It currently costs £460,000 per day to keep the RNLI in action and available to save lives any time of day and night.
