Rachael's SJP Charitable Foundation Channel Swim now 2021

SJP Charitable Foundation - Channel Swim 2020 · 10 June 2020
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. It was about time i did something even more challenging than before, then Covid hit but it hasn’t stopped me training in Morecambe Bay when the tides allow, a great training ground, the river when the tides aren’t good.
I hadn’t swum in the sea before May 2020 (except on holiday bobbing about!) I have in Windermere but never trained just jumped in and swum a mile taking part in the Great North Swim...
I was diagnosed in 2019 after 6 years of tests, scans, far too many hospital appointments at all different hospitals in the north west and 4 operations later, i was finally told i had an incurable neurological rare autoimmune disease, which is invisible and no-one would know i have it, it is progressive and i will deteriorate, at what speed we are unsure. It effects most of my body, i have pain continuously, i suffer from extreme fatigue, which in turn effects my coordination, balance, speech and breathing. To this end i want to make the most of my ability to do things that one day i may not be able to do. I want to keep doing the things which fill me with joy, challenge me and the need for sheer grit and determination is key, to keep me positive and moving forward, not looking back. Hoping one day all the fundraising i have done for all the charities i have supported will inspire others, to give back, give of themselves, putting others first and being kind is my motivator...
All funds raised will be matched by St. James's Place and all will be given to numerous children's charities. Happy to update you and where your money has gone once it has been allocated to the different charities.
