Thanks for visiting my page.
A few months ago, I thought it would be fun to set myself a challenge and decided to sign up for the Cambridge Half Marathon. For someone that has never properly ran before (apart from that time I ran for the burger van and broke my hand...), this is a HUGE challenge.
I thought it would be nice to raise some money for charity in the process and have decided to align myself to the British Heart Foundation. Those close to me will know that my Mum has been struggling with heart problems (more specifically, Atrial Fibrillation) for the last 3 years. Mum received a procedure called an ablation nearly 2 years ago to correct the issue. Unfortunately this has not been successful and she has spent the last 6 months living with her heart out of rhythm, controlled only by medicines. Although this has greatly impacted my mum's day to day life whilst we wait for the next procedure, we are very aware that we are the lucky ones!
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
Thanks!
