Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My dad, David Saker, died on 22nd August 2014 from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). He was always a fit and healthy man and we were so shocked to see how quickly this little known and devastating lung disease takes hold. Until his diagnosis in 2012 I’d never heard of IPF; it is relatively rare but it is on the increase. It’s called ‘Idiopathic’ because the cause is unknown and there is no cure and few treatments.
On Sunday 10th May 2015 I’m doing the Stratford 220 Triathlon (in Southam, Warwickshire) to both raise awareness of the disease and money for ‘Breathing Matters’. This is a UK charity based at UCLH investigating treatments, and ultimately a cure, for IPF. I'm doing it with my husband Ricky and friend Gill Burgess who are also using this page to raise funds. Anything you can spare to help this worthwhile cause is greatly appreciated.
