Story
To celebrate 125 years of the National Trust, I'm aiming to raise £250 to support a number of appeals across the English Riviera properties (Greenway, Coleton Fishacre, Bradley Manor and Compton Castle).
I work as a House Steward, looking after a collection and sharing the house and its story with visitors. In my spare time I morris dance, which I have done (with a few gaps) since I was at sixth form. I currently dance with 3 morris sides across the country (I keep moving and I'm terrible at officially leaving a side): Harberton Navy in Devon, Makeney Morris in Derbyshire and Sarum Morris in Wiltshire. I really enjoy that both my work and my hobby involve preserving heritage and sharing it with people. Morris dancing is also great exercise, fun and has helped me find a new friendship group and social life every time I move.
To celebrate 125 years of the National Trust I wanted to mark it with my own morris challenge - to dance 125 dances throughout the year. When I was first thinking of this, I meant it as to dance 125 times in the year, but now I'm wondering if it is possible to meet a more ambitious challenge - to learn and dance 125 different dances in the year. I'll keep track of both to see how I'm doing, and I'll keep this updated with the events that I'll be going to in order to hit that target.
