Story
I’m doing 5K a Day in May — because living miserably? Yeah, that’s cancelled.
This May, I’m taking on 5K every single day to raise money for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and I need your support! Whether you throw £5, £50, or £500 my way — every single penny helps. Seriously. You’re not just helping me drag myself through these daily 5Ks — you’re helping save lives.
If you don’t know about CALM yet, let me put you on.
They’re taking a stand against suicide by offering life-saving services, getting real about mental health, and building a community where no one has to face it alone.
Because facts: every week, 125 people in the UK take their own lives — and CALM is here to change that.
Now, this isn’t just a random cause I picked. This is personal.
Mental health is complicated, and trust me, as a Black woman, it comes with extra layers nobody really talks about.
I actually did a whole TED Talk about it — about the pressures of “Black Girl Magic,” about being expected to stay strong even when you’re breaking inside, and about choosing yourself anyway.
(If you fancy hearing me get real about it, here’s the link: Ted Talk 🔴 ‘Somebody Must Go First’ https://youtu.be/9W2voOPrLi0?si=YijlI4dB8OHXMVMi)
So yeah — this isn’t just a challenge. It’s a mission.
It’s for every person who’s ever felt like giving up, for every person who needed to hear “You matter.”
It’s for all of us.
Thank you for supporting me, backing CALM, and reminding the world that living miserably is NOT the only option.
Let’s gooo!!! Catch me outside, walking and running my heart out — for me, for the community, for the cause.
