Tracheostomy fund- Raki the Raccoon · 29 June 2021

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, we believe there’s always more we can do for our sick kids and that’s why we will always strive to do more for our patients and families. It’s our mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use our hospital. Your support empowers us to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK. Your fundraising enables us to make our hospital feel just like home. Your donations will help us improve our tracheostomy  service  focusing on the child, parents and families experience and journey. Tracheostomies are life saving artificial airways . We have created a BCH tracheostomy mascot 'Raki the raccoon'. The money raised will enable us to give each child a Raki the raccoon soft toy with it's own tracheostomy , as well as an information booklet for child , parents and families. In time we aspire to develop a supoort network for our children and families, including organising family fun days to bring our children and families together. Any money raised over our target will go towards new ideas all focused on improving the child, parent and family experience.
