On 10th October I will be running 13.1 miles in the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise funds for The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) and their efforts to save the Sumatran tiger.
ZSL is a registered charity dedicated in its mission to promote and achieve the world-wide conservation of animals and their habitats. Achieving this mission has never been so important. Animal extinction rates are increasing and some of the world’s most charismatic species are now on the brink of extinction.
The Sumatran tiger is just one example. There are less than 300 Sumatran tigers left in the wild. Their dwindling numbers are the direct result of poaching and conflict with humans as they seek new territories following the destruction of their natural habitats.
The survival of the Sumatran tiger and tigers in general will only succeed if we tackle the problem from all angles. So your donation will be shared equally in support of:
Protecting tiger habitats, tiger monitoring and anti-poaching initiatives in . Educating the general public about the plight of Sumatran tigers and the actions individuals and society can take to aid their survival Helping us to build a new flagship Tiger exhibit at ZSL London Zoo that will be both a wonderful new home to our Sumatran tigers and will help support a healthy population of Sumatran tigers through our global zoo conservation breeding programme.
Only ZSL takes this multi-pronged approach to tiger conservation. But as a charity we are reliant on the generosity of our supporters to undertake our work.
So, if like me, you care about tigers, then I urge you to support ZSL’s work. The future of the Sumatran tiger just might depend on it.
Many thanks
Ralph Armond
Justgiving will send your money directly to ZSL and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
