The Great North Air Ambulance Service keeps families together by saving lives. We provide critical care to the people of the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

Story

So, guess what.....

We will be riding from Lands End to John O'Groats in June 2013 as part of Swift Cycling Club, which was set up on behalf of Mark Swift.

In May 2012 Mark was involved in a mountain biking accident in Grizedale Forest, Yorkshire. He suffered serious head, neck and back injuries, and was air lifted by the Great North Air Ambulance Service to Middlesborough hospital, where he was kept in intensive care for three months before being transferred to Southport Specialist Spinal Clinic. He was released form hospital in December, and is currently living with his parents.Unfortunately, he has been left paralysed from just below the arms down as a result of his accident.

The ride will last for ten days and cover approximately 1000 miles. We have been training since December primarily getting out on the road when we can (i.e. above zero degrees) and using the gym.

The money raised will go towards wheelchairs, home and car alterations for Mark, as well as the Great North Air Ambulance Service

Thanks in advance for all your help
