Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
There are over 6500 people waiting for a kidney and or pancreas transplant in the UK. Last year over 300 people died waiting for a kidney or pancreas transplant- almost one a day.
A transplant returns the patient to independence allowing them to travel, play sport, enjoy life to the full, work....and pay taxes!
The Manchester Transplant Unit is one of the largest in Europe. We believe our involvement in clinical trials and surgical innovation relating to kidney failure and transplantation over the previous decades has contributed to the massive improvents in the surgical care of patients with kidney failure. We hope this has transformed the lives and aspirations of our patients both locally and nationally.
My appeal to you is for support to fund further surgical research and clinical trials in our unit.
I hope to run the Manchester 10K on the 20th May 2012 to raise money and awareness for our cause. Any donations you can make will be greatly appreciated.
I hope the money raised will benefit the future generations of our patients both locally and nationally.
