DBA is a rare and little known condition effecting approx 125 people in
the UK and less than 1000 worldwide. There is currently no cure and each treatment path causes other problems in the body, therefore DBA UK fund vital research into this terrible life threatening condition.
A few friends of Archie's mum and dad have got together and decided on a couple of challenges involving hiking to try and raise some funds for a very worthy charity close to our hearts.
The first challenge will be the Yorkshire 3 Peaks which will be undertaken by Paul Jackson and Paul Petty on the 25th May 2019.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks are arranged in a triangle, with the River Ribble and two minor B roads between them. The total walking distance is 39.2km (24.5 miles). The Yorkshire Three Peaks are situated in the Yorkshire Dales and the challenge consists of climbing the summit of Pen-y-ghent (694m; 2,227 ft), Whernside (736 m; 2415 ft) and Ingleborough (723m; 2,372ft) in less than 12 hours. They are planning to start the walk from Horton-in-Ribblesddale at 5:30a.m on Saturday the 25thMay so will be look at leaving Harrogate for around 4:00a.m.
The main checkpoints along the route are:
