Story

On 21 April 2024, I will be running the London Marathon on behalf of The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust (EPT). Please support me as I train to pound the streets of London raising crucial funds and awareness for ectopic pregnancies.

The EPT strives to provide information, education and support to those affected by early pregnancy complications and to the health professionals who care for them. Ectopic pregnancy is a common, life-threatening condition that is the leading cause of maternal death in the first trimester of early pregnancy. The condition affects around 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK and occurs when an embryo grows outside of the womb. The EPT believes that the deaths and trauma associated with ectopic pregnancy should be prevented. We seek to relieve the distress associated with the experience and provide ongoing support through their treatment and beyond.

Today, I want to share a deeply personal journey that my wife and I went through in 2018, which has inspired me to raise funds for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.

In 2018, our lives were turned upside down when my wife experienced an ectopic pregnancy. For those who may not be aware, an ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants itself outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube. It is a life-threatening condition for the mother and an incredibly distressing experience for couples like us.

During this challenging time, we felt overwhelmed, frightened, and utterly lost. We had never heard of The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and were unaware of the support and resources available to couples facing this ordeal. It was a painful and lonely journey, and we wished we had known about this incredible organisation that could have provided the guidance and comfort we so desperately needed.

By sharing our story, my aim is to raise funds for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust so that other couples don't have to go through what we did. I want to ensure that every person, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to vital information about the signs and symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy. Early detection is crucial in saving lives and preventing severe complications.

The funds raised will directly support The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust in their efforts to raise awareness through educational campaigns, provide crucial support networks for those affected, and improve medical training to ensure early diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of couples facing the challenges of an ectopic pregnancy.

I kindly request your support in this endeavour. Your generous donations will go a long way in helping The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust reach more individuals, provide essential resources, and ultimately save lives. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, can make a world of difference.

Please join me in raising awareness about ectopic pregnancies and supporting The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust. Together, we can ensure that no couple faces this traumatic experience without the knowledge, support, and care they so desperately need.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and for helping us make a positive change in the lives of others.

With heartfelt gratitude, Raymond
