Literacy is paramount for a child to understand further knowledge and pursue his education.
With Real Action, they achieve astounding results: our children’s reading age improves by over a year in just twenty hours’ Butterfly teaching. And these improvements have a lasting positive impact on their lives.
The educational fortunes – the entire future – of a child can be transformed in a matter of months. We call this transformation The Butterfly Effect.
Our Children’s Backgrounds
The children come to us, normally without referrals from schools or other agencies:
- from deprived socio-economic backgrounds
- from a multiplicity of cultures, national origins and home languages
- normally by word of mouth; often children bring other children; sometimes children stop us in the street, asking if they can come
Why we must take action
Poor literacy and command of the English language can have an extremely negative impact on the lives of children, adults, and on society as a whole.
Help us give them the necessary knowledge to enhance their chances to pursue an education.
Why we need money
Organizing Butterfly Reading classes incurs a lot of expenses such as : teachers, books, other materials, lease and administrative tasks.
£10 : could pay for one Butterfly session for one child
£50 : could train a teaching team for one class
£100 : could sponsor one Butterfly pupil for one term
