Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is the world's leading medical humanitarian aid organisation. We work in over 70 countries - in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics. We are independent, neutral and impartial. We provide medical care where it's needed most.

Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

I've been lucky enough to get a place to run this year's London and New York marathons.  I love running London so much I've now run it four times, and running New York has long been a dream of mine - I lived in the city in the 1990s and it's one of my favourite places in the world. I can't wait to run through the five boroughs and experience the amazing atmosphere and crowd support.

I wanted to make the most of this incredible opportunity by asking my kind friends to help me raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders, a charity that provides emergency medical aid to help people affected by armed conflicts, epidemics, famines and natural disasters. They also run longer-term projects, tackling health crises and providing essential and preventative health care. They currently have projects running in over 60 countries, including Afghanistan, Yemen and the Ukraine, and were until recently operating search and rescue ships in the Mediterranean, saving the lives of desperate refugees fleeing conflict and persecution.

To give you an idea of how your donation could be used: £10 will pay for measles vaccinations for 21 children; £15 can help two children recover from malnutrition; £20 pays for 62 hepatitis B vaccinations; £45 will pay for a day's work by a doctor in a crisis zone; £73 will treat up to 130 people with malaria.

Any amount you can spare will be gratefully received and put to good use by MSF.  Knowing I have your support will spur me on in my training and on the big days - April 24th in London and November 6th in New York, for anyone who's able to come to cheer me on.
