Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. On 8th September we will be running the Run to the Beat half marathon in aid of Beat (the leading UK charity for people with eating disorders).
Having spent a number of years researching and working in the field of eating disorders, we have seen the devastating impact they can have on sufferers and their loved ones. Our research at the Institute of Psychiatry is specifically targeted at families, helping them to help their loved ones. Preliminary results are encouraging but we know that the road to recovery can be long and protracted. Beat provide a fantastic array of services including helplines, online support and a network of UK-wide self-help groups to help sufferers and their families beat eating disorders. It is such a worthy cause and any donations will be gratefully received!
£2 enables Beat to provide online support to a young person struggling with an eating disorder
£5 enables Beat to answer a question on the helpline message boards
£10 enables Beat to give a sufferer the opporunity to talk to a support worker
£25 enables Beat to run their helpline for half an hour and change the lives of people affected by an eating disorder
£50 enables 10 parents and carers to support one another in one of our Beat Carers' Forums
£100 enables Beat to train a Young Ambassador to talk about and raise awareness of eating disorders in the national media
