Story

On 10th May this year, we were due to take part in "Walk the Wight", a 26.5 mile charity walk across the Isle of Wight that raises crucial funds for the Mountbatten Hospice every year. We were excited to join the event in support of the hospice as well as completing the challenge as part of a fun weekend away with friends. Unfortunately, due to the current lockdown, like many others this event sadly had to be cancelled.

The hospice normally raises around £250,000 from this event, a vital source of funding which they now stand to miss out on. You may not know that the main source of income (nearly 70%!) for a hospice comes from fundraising and donations such as this, without which they would be unable to deliver the amazing care and support they provide to so many.

So we are still keen to help support the hospice by "Walking the Wight" our way. Starting from Monday 27th April, we have set ourselves the challenge of each walking 150 miles by the end of May. We will walk every day (come rain or shine!) totting up our miles whilst continuing to work full time at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth and Moseley Hall Hospital in Birmingham. The only miles that count are the ones on our dedicated walk, any other steps are not included!

We are aware that there have already been so many wonderful donations and support shown to the NHS and other services, despite it being a challenging time for many. However if you feel you are able to, any support you can offer for this would be very greatly received.

We will post on this page regularly, to keep you updated on our progress. Thank you.
