Story

Hi,

30th Nov 2016

I'm sorry to be the bearer of sad news especially at this time of the year but felt it right that as you donated towards my appeal for Macmillan in summer in recognition of my amazing sister Rhian that I should update you.

After many months and years of struggling and fighting but with lots of ups and good times and still always laughing, smiling and being strong my amazing , fabulous , beautiful, special sister passed away peacefully.

Anybody who ever met or knew her will know how amazing she was and is, the world has lost a bright and beautiful soul and spirit and she will always be remembered and we will all do what we can to help her husband Richard, her and my loving amazing mum , Margaret and her family including her 2 lovely , amazing boys Geraint and Iestyn as well as her other 2 boys with Richard Ned and Alfie.

I'm sure many of you may be close family & friends and I will talk to you soon and hopefully see you soon, to those who are not once again thank you for your donation and to the great help it gives to all sufferers and families of sufferers of this terrible thing.

We expect the funereal to be around 13 or 14th December in Cheltenham, and will have more details on this soon if you want to get in touch with me or mum, also if people wanted they could make donations to Macmillan or Royal Marsden both of whom helped during these difficult few years, and again details on this as I have them x

Cancer has affected nearly everyone’s families at some time or another as well as many members of my family including my sister, grandma and grandfather, my aunt Fran through to my dad and also his mother being taken by it.

To help the families and sufferers of cancer I'd like to help towards
the charity, MacMillan’s as recommended by my sister, Rhian, as her chosen
charity as she is still fighting recurring breast cancer.

I'm cycling around 300 miles non-stop in under 24 hours continually ,
leaving from Fishguard, West Wales to London, so West to East coast. It’s also
inspired to commemorate my great, great x 7 or 8 ! ? grandmother on my dad’s
side ( Alan Wynne Thomas).

She was called Jemima Nicholas and is still remembered for helping to
fend off the last invasion of UK mainland in 1797. http://www.visitwales.com/explore/traditions-history/horrible-histories-wild-women

She like my sister and all my family seems to have been a strong fighter
and so a perfect role model for the daily grinding battle against cancer . The
ride is longer than London to Paris , unsupported , alone with no assistance
and is part of my summers plans of this then also the Marlow Half Iron.

http://www.marlowtriathlon.co.uk/events/marlow-half-iron-distance-triathlon
:- followed by a full iron distance in September , all trying to help the cause
and spread the message of helping others.

On my webpage https://rhidiant.wordpress.com I'll keep everyone
updated on training, recipes and general information on how even
someone who likes a tipple , likes a good meal , who’s not a natural athlete (
I only tried road bikes for the first time 18 months ago having been a Mountain
biker ) and who enjoys the fun parts of life whilst working a full time job can
make the most of their current good health to enjoy pushing themselves.
So far my biggest event was the Marlow Half Iron in 2015 in 5 and a half
hours so lots more training to go!

Thanks for any donation  however large or small its all
appreciated,

best regards

Rhidian Thomas

You can keep an eye on my training here , its free website to join and

A big thanks you to Richard Morse and the Fishguard Bay Hotel http://www.fishguardbayhotel.co.uk/ for offering me a free room and breakfast for the bike ride as a donation to the cause. I will also add some more to the ride myself on there behalf.
