Story

On the 15th April 2019 I will take on the Boston Marathon
to help raise funds for basis.point. Boston is the marathon that needs
no introduction, but deserves one nonetheless. The oldest. The toughest. The most iconic. A proving-ground for world-class elites and weekend warriors alike. A spectacle of determination and grit that draws a million spectators and millions in charitable donations year after year. Before you ask, I haven’t become an elite athlete overnight and no I didn’t make the qualifying time (for my age that would be around the 3 hour mark). John Hancock Investments, the headline sponsors of the marathon very kindly donated a Golden Bib to basis.point and I have taken on the challenge of raising much needed funds for the charity.

For those less familiar with the charity, let me give you some background. basis.point is the Irish Fund Industry’s initiative to come together to improving educational opportunities for those in need in Ireland, particularly young people. They do this by providing grants to charities to fund programmes and initiatives that focus on education and which aim to make a sustainable and tangible difference to those living in poverty.

With the help of the Irish Fund’s industry, MontLake’s service provider partners, ML Capital’s managers, friends and family I have set a target to raise €50k for this most worthwhile initiative. Any donation, be it corporate or a personal will be greatly received. Thank you all for your support and please wish me luck in getting over Heartbreak Hill, widely regarded as the most difficult hill in world marathons.

About the charity

An initiative of the Irish Fund Industry, our vision is to make a difference to the lives of those living in poverty by supporting charities that focus on education for young people in Ireland.
