The Bee Team
 Dear Friends,
We, “THE BEE TEAM”, are a group of Cyclists & walkers, who are made up from ex-professional & international rugby players from Wales, who played rugby during the 1980’s & 90’s.
We are raising awareness and funding for various local Welsh charities, good causes and Cancer care units across the Principality. We started with an idea to raise awareness and money when we attended an event last week in aid of our friend and teammate Mike Griffiths who has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, (ALS) or better known to many as Motor Neurone Disease. Mike, known to his friends as “Tubby” has been a stalwart in is own community, working tirelessly for local charities and especially with many young kids at his local rugby club Glyn Neath. He is also a keen bee keeper; hence this is where our organisation name has now stemmed from.
The organisation launched our “The Bee Team Fundraiser” today and it is our goal to reach £1000 for the Velindre Cancer Centre, Cardiff. We, the Bee Team will endeavour to cycle from Aberavon RFC in Port Talbot to the Tenby Lifeboat Station, Tenby, on Saturday the 26th of September 2020, covering over 63 miles for the Velindre Cancer Centre charity, whilst raising valuable cancer awareness on the way.
Velindre is Wales’ premier cancer centre, providing care, support and treatment to cancer patients and their families. More people than ever are living with cancer and survival rates have doubled in the last 40 years through better treatments and earlier detection. Velindre Cancer Centre are working hard to lead the delivery and development of compassionate, individualised and effective cancer care, which is achieving outcomes comparable with the best in the world.
Just a small donation of £1 will help us accomplish our goal of raising our targeted figure of £1000 and it will go a long way to supporting the Velindre cancer care centre, its volunteers, patients and families through their difficult times.
