As an Early Years teacher I work everyday with amazing children who are on the Autistic spectrum. Autism, or the autism spectrum, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. Ambitious about Autism is a National Charity for children and young people with autism. They aim to make the ordinary possible by providing services, raising awareness and understanding, and by campaigning for change. Support them, and help to encourage my madness by sponsoring me here!
The ride from Manchester to London is an enormous challenge and will be without any doubt the toughest thing I've ever done on two wheels. It's 225 miles with around 10,500ft of climbing and takes place on Sunday 3rd September, starting around 6 am. You'll be able to track my progress (as proof that I've not stopped at a pub or got the train) using a link I'll be able to share nearer the time.
There's a sweepstake running for my actual ride time (not including breaks). The organisers suggest a 15 mph average is what riders should aim for but I could be a few mph either side of that. Weather may play a part too.... If you sponsor me, be sure to add your ride time estimate in your comment to be in with a chance of winning a unique and truly eye-catching memento from the day! Also, thanks to the wonderful Simon from Strava, the winner of the sweepstake will win a Strava goodie bag PLUS one years Premium Membership to Strava. Amazing!
