Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI researches causes and possible cures of leukaemia and lymphoma in Northern Ireland.

Story

Diagnosed with Non Hodgkin's, Mantle Cell Lymphoma in February 2015, whilst training for the London Marathon at the age of 45. I was treated with 6 rounds of Chemo-therapy and was fortunate to receive a stem cell transplant all before 2015 was over,

I now have a second chance at life which would not have been possible just a few short years ago.
I am hugely thankful to the NHS and all those who work within it, but also to Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI who fund essential research through Queens University and the City Hospital, into the causes and cures of leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma in Northern Ireland.

Now that I have my health back, I want to raise awareness of Blood Cancers, and help those who may yet have to face its challenges by raising funds for this fantastic charity.

Please help me do this by sponsoring my 1000 mile run.

My health has improved steadily through 2016 to allow me to start this challenge.
1000 miles is a significant challenge for me, but day by day week by week and month by month I am determined to achieve this goal.

I will compete in the Carlingford half Marathon, some Park runs and 10k runs throughout the year as well as other events including possibly another marathon later in the year, but to reach this goal, I will complete 83.33 miles each and every month.

One of my concerns with picking a Charity was ensuring that the charity is efficient and that most of the money reaches the cause and I understand that 85% to 87% of the funds raised are spent on research.
