I am running the London Marathon on 22nd April 2018 to raise funds for the charity, CLIC Sargent, in memory of my son, Matthew.

Many of you visiting this page will know the story because you knew Matthew, will have donated and raised money yourselves. Your continued support is much appreciated.

For anyone else, Matthew died of a brain tumour at the age of 22. He was in his final year at Loughborough University, was a very fit and strong sportsman for whom nothing was impossible.

CLIC Sargent provided invaluable support to Matthew whilst he was ill in the form of counselling and memorable experiences - meeting the England football team for example, and helped the rest of the family cope with practical day to day issues and the trauma of his illness.

The work they do is amazing. Your donation will help them to help others like Matthew. Whilst I have always enjoyed sport and have now progressed to golf, training has never been on my agenda. Running 42km is clearly insane so your donations will also encourage me to get out on those cold winter days and train.
