Story
It was touch and go whether I took part in the Manchester 10k this time as I had suffered a hamstring sprain in pre race training.
Knowing that people had sponsored me and donated to the Air Ambulance service encouraged me to complete the course, albeit in a much slower time than last time. I finished in 1 hour 1 minute and 21 seconds, half way down the field but overall glad that I had taken part.
My time in the race in September 21 was 39 minutes 32 seconds. I finished in 106th position overall and in 6th position in my age group.
The Air Ambulance Service operates the local air ambulance services for Warwickshire & Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland as well as the national paediatric and neonatal transfer service, the Children’s Air Ambulance, covering the whole of the UK. The Air Ambulance Service does not receive funding from the government for its daily missions. It relies entirely on voluntary donations and support from our communities and business. Your support will help keep us flying.
Jo, a work colleague, was recently rescued by the Air Ambulance Service. She writes, of her experience -
'East Midlands Air Ambulance were amazing and are a vital service for those living in and visiting isolated areas.
I had an accident involving cows, in a field. East Midlands Air Ambulance waited a long time for the field I was in, to be made safe, for them to land. They had enough fuel for them to wait another minute, and then they would have to return to base. The paramedics were professional and I felt that I was in safe hands, I remember the Pilot giving me a thumbs up through the window before we took off.
If I had gone to hospital in a 'normal' ambulance, I would have been in a lot more pain, for a lot longer.'
Our company, DJS Research Ltd, has selected Air Ambulance service as its nominated charity for 2021/22. Please donate whatever you are able to allow the Air Ambulance Service to continue with its vital work,
Thank you.
