St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity based in West Suffolk and Thetford, serving our community since 1984. As a charity, we believe everyone matters in life and death, and we strive for something better for those facing dying, death and grief.

Story

March 3rd 1974 saw 18 members of the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club perish in one of the world's worst plane crashes. The shock and grief in our town and the UK’s Rugby community was as you can imagine immense.

The Rugby Club and individuals connected to those that were lost plan to remember the anniversary by holding a 310 mile sponsored cycle ride from the crash site at Ermonville in France to the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club in May this year. The money raised by the 85 plus riders will be donated to St Nicholas Hospice for it's ongoing needs and to the Bury Rugby Club to set up permanent lighting for the Youth team pitches.

I will be riding the 310 miles with many friends whose fathers were lost in this tragedy. I was 12 years younger the last time I rode to Paris from London. This trip is longer, harder and I am older! Please make a donation to make it worth while. Thanks in advance. Richard
