How time flies when you are having fun.....In this case I think this could be a LONG challenge!!

 

It seemed like such a good idea at the time, a cycling challenge I have always wanted to do and someone mad enough to agree with me and help to make it happen! That is why, in August 2012 Rick Dobbs and Debbie Fitzgerald will be setting off from John O'Groats on our push bikes on an epic journey through Scotland, Wales and England, covering about 900 miles, over 12 days for one cause......to help beat cancer.

 

For those that know me, you know I am normally up for a challenge but am honestly scared about the sheer distance and time scale with this one. But 2012 marks a special 10 year anniversary of when we lost our good friend Duncan Maisey, aged 26 years old. This opened my eyes to the fact that we take our health for granted, at all ages, and I want to help make a difference; help to shape better treatments, better detection and preventions for us all against cancer.

 

Now we all know I am rubbish at science and wearing a white lab coat just wouldn't stay clean for long so I am hoping to help by raising money for those clever bods to do that science bit for us.

 

Like with any big challenge, we cant do this alone, mum and dad Fitzgerald are going to be our support crew and cheering squad on the road and we need YOU to pop your hand in your pocket and donate some dosh! We are taking out 2 weeks hard earned annual leave to do this and the trip is totally self funded so every penny goes towards the pioneering work of Cancer Research UK, working today, to make more tomorrows......
