Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My chosen Charity is Alder Hey Children's hospital, one of the busiest children's hospitals in Europe which see's over 270,000 children each year. I will be doing it in memory of Aunty Joan who was an avid fundraiser for the charity since 1998 when they treated her son for Angiofibroma (a benign tumour that tends to bleed and occurs in the nasopharynx of prepubertal and adolescent males) and raised money at every opportunity until she sadly passed away last year.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

The Challenge

Standing at a formidable 18,192 ft the summit of Mount Everest offers the perfect backdrop for this almighty 16 day challenge. They fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and from Lukla climbers trek upward to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar, 3,440 metres (11,290 ft), following the valley of the Dudh Kosi river. It takes about two days to reach the village, which is a central hub of the area. Typically at this point, climbers allow a day of rest for acclimatization. They then trek another two days to Dingboche, 4,260 metres (13,980 ft) before resting for another day for further acclimatization. Another two days takes them to Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep, the flat field below Kala Patthar, 5,545 metres (18,192 ft) and Mt. Pumori.
