Story

A team made up of staff from Humankind’s services across the country, will be cycling from Manchester to Teesside to highlight the many ways to achieve recovery from substance misuse.

The sponsorship funds raised by the riders will go towards Humankind’s
Service User Fund. The fund is a pot of money for items or activities that will enrich or improve an individual’s or family’s life. That could mean clothes for a job interview or assisting with college equipment and in some cases essential goods for a new home. It can also cover group travel to galleries or museums or fund an important service user event.

The group will ride over 150 miles from Manchester, across the Pennines, arriving in Middlesbrough for the start of the FAVOR UK Recovery Walk.

They will call in at Humankind-led drug and alcohol recovery service locations all along the journey.

Paul Townsley, Chief Executive Officer of Humankind, will be among the cyclists.
He said: “Humankind is a major sponsor of the Favor UK Recovery Walk this year, which is being held in Middlesbrough. We wanted to show our support for this cause with this Ride for Recovery. Raising money and awareness to improve the lives of our service users will demonstrate that.
“As well as the core team of 15 riders, extra cyclists from our local services as well as people who have used our services in the past, will be joining the ride at the various stages.”
